2000 Rupees Note: If you also have a 2000 rupee note, then you have a chance to exchange it only today. After this these notes will become worthless. The extended deadline for exchanging these notes is ending today.
The last date to exchange Rs 2000 note is today i.e. 7th September. Earlier, RBI had fixed the date for exchanging these notes till 30th September. Later it was increased to 7 days.
In such a situation, people, especially NRIs, were given an extra time of one week to exchange these notes, so that no one is left with Rs 2000 note.
Notes worth Rs 3.43 lakh crore returned
RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das has said that out of the Rs 3.43 lakh crore Rs 2,000 notes returned since May, 87 percent have come in the form of deposits in banks.
Rs 12,000 crore still not returned
Let us tell you that there are Rs 2000 notes worth Rs 12 thousand crores and have not returned to the banking system. These notes are still awaited. Shaktikanta Das has said that Rs 12,000 crore is not less.
Rs 2000 notes came in 2016
The Rs 2,000 note was launched in the market in November 2016. It came into the market when the government had announced to remove the largest currency notes in circulation i.e. Rs 500 and Rs 1000 from circulation.
