According to Taiwanese research firm Trendforce, Apple plans to release the third generation iPhone SE in the first quarter of 2022. If this deadline proves to be correct, then we can expect the device to be released by the end of March. As rumored earlier, TrendForce said that the new iPhone SE will be a mid-range smartphone with additional support for 5G. That is, it can be called the cheapest 5G iPhone.
iPhone SE may launch in March 2022
In terms of product development, Apple plans to release its third generation iPhone SE in 1Q22 and four models in 2H22 under a new series. The third generation iPhone SE is expected to be a major instrument in helping Apple establish its presence in the market segment for mid-range 5G smartphones. Its production volume is estimated to reach 25-30 million units for 2022.
Highlights about the iPhone SE
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously claimed that the new iPhone SE will have a similar design to the current model, which is based on the iPhone 8, with a 4.7-inch display, Touch ID home button, and thicker bezels. Kuo said major upgrades to the device would include 5G support and a faster processor – reportedly the A15 chip.
A bigger version of the iPhone SE may come
There have also been some rumors that Apple is working on a bigger version of the iPhone SE, but that device is not expected to be released before 2023 or earlier. The original iPhone SE was released in March 2016 and was discontinued in September 2018. The second generation iPhone SE was launched in April 2020 and is on sale, priced at $399 (Rs 29,928) for 64GB storage and $449 (Rs 33,679) for 128GB storage.
