Apart from dearness allowance, the biggest announcement can also be made regarding Travel Allowance (TA). Now all that is waiting is for the approval of increase in dearness allowance. The Union Cabinet may approve it in the month of March. After this, there will be a jump in other allowances also.
Know how much will be the increase in dearness allowance-
First of all, there is an increase in the dearness allowance (DA Hike) of central employees. It will get approval from the government in March 2024. AICPI index numbers from July to December 2023 have confirmed that central employees will get 50 percent dearness allowance. There has been a jump of 4 percent in dearness allowance. The current DA rate is 46 percent.
There may be a big announcement on Travel Allowance (TA)-
The most important thing for the employees will be travel allowance. After DA, there may also be a jump in Travel Allowance (TA). By including travel allowance with salary pay band, the increase in DA can be even higher.
Travel allowance is linked to different pay bands. Travel allowance for Grade 1 to 2 in higher TPTA cities is Rs 1800 and Rs 1900. Grade 3 to 8 gets Rs 3600 + DA. Whereas, for other places this rate is Rs 1800 + DA.

A major change may also be seen in the House Rent Allowance (HRA) of employees. There will be revision in this also after DA increase in March. Actually, according to the rules, it will be revised if the dearness allowance crosses 50 percent.
At present HRA is given at the rate of 27, 24, 18 percent. It is divided into categories Z, Y, X of cities. If dearness allowance will be 50 percent then HRA will also increase to 30, 27, 21 percent.
3 gifts confirmed for central employees
3 gifts for central employees will be confirmed in March 2024. First, increase in dearness allowance, second, increase in travel allowance and third, revision in HRA. It is expected that their new rates can be fixed before Holi 2024. Usually, the government announces the dearness allowance applicable from January in March.
