7th Pay Commission: The festive season has started in the country and the excitement of Ganeshotsav is being seen all around. Lakhs of government employees of the country are now waiting for an increase in their dearness allowance i.e. DA. A news related to this has come which can make the government employees happy. Employees and pensioners working in government jobs may soon get the gift of increase in dearness allowance.
When can the central government announce increase in dearness allowance?
The central government can announce a 3 percent increase in dearness allowance in the coming month i.e. the first week of October, i.e. before Navratri. Central employees and pensioners have been waiting for the increase in dearness allowance since the month of July. This time, it is expected that the October salary will come with increased dearness allowance (DA) and arrears.
How often is dearness allowance revised?
Dearness Allowance is revised twice every year i.e. in January and July. At present, 42 percent dearness allowance is being given to central government employees and pensioners. If soon it increases by another 3 percent, it will increase to 45 percent.
On the basis of which formula is dearness allowance calculated?
There is a fixed formula for calculating dearness allowance of central government employees and pensioners. DA for central government employees is calculated on the basis of the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI-IW). On the basis of this formula, dearness allowance and dearness relief are increased.
According to the CPI data of July, the government can increase DA by 3 percent. Dearness allowance is calculated on the basis of Consumer Price Index of Industrial Workers which is released every month by the Labor Bureau. Central employees are expecting 4 percent increase in dearness allowance. However, according to sources, dearness allowance will be increased only by 3 percent and overall dearness allowance of central employees will increase to 45 percent.
Dearness allowance may increase by 3 percent
The decision to increase dearness allowance will come into effect from July 1 and the salary for the month of October will be given along with the increase in dearness allowance. Arrears for July to September can also be received along with October salary. According to the data, this decision of the Central Government will benefit 47 lakh employees and 68 lakh pensioners.
