What is AICPI Index
The All India Consumer Price Index calculates the allowances of employees in comparison to inflation, the Ministry of Labor collects these figures and then issues numbers, on the basis of which the DA is increased.
Why is DA dearness allowance given to employees,
central and state government employees get to improve their cost of living level. Even after the increase in inflation, there is no difference in the standard of living of the employees, so this allowance is given. Dearness allowance is given to government employees and public sector employees and dearness relief to pensioners.
