Let us tell you that if this increase happens, it will be effective from July 1, 2023 and this will lead to an increase in the salary for the month of November, as well as the arrears for the period from July to October. If the increase in DA is announced, it is likely to benefit 47 lakh employees and 68 lakh pensioners.

How much can the salary increase?

Let us tell you that the minimum basic salary of central employees is Rs 18,000. On this Rs 18,000, DA of 42 percent is added which is Rs 7,560. If the government increases this DA from 42 percent to 46 percent today, then the monthly DA of the employees’ salary will increase to Rs 8,280.

What is DA?

Dearness Allowance (DA) is the money given by the government to the public sector employees so that the burden of rising inflation does not fall on the government employees. Whereas Dearness Relief (DR) is similar to DI and it is given to the pensioners of the Central Government.

Dearness allowance for industrial workers is decided on the basis of Consumer Price Index (CPI). The government reviews it every 6 months.
