7th Pay Commission: The government has increased Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief under the Seventh Pay Commission.

7th Pay Commission: Recently, the central government has given good news to the employees. The government has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief under the Seventh Pay Commission.

DA and DR of employees and pensioners increased by 3 percent. Now government employees will get DA and DR in their salary at the rate of 34 percent. The central government announced this after a meeting of the cabinet committee chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The press release issued from the PM’s Office said that “The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the release of additional installment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees and an additional installment of Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners. has been approved. This increase will be applicable from 01.01.2022. It has increased from the current 31 per cent to 34 per cent.

The government also said that the move will benefit over 47 lakh employees and over 68 lakh pensioners. Both dearness allowance and dearness relief will increase the burden of Rs 9,544.50 crore per year in the exchequer. This will benefit about 47.68 lakh central government employees and 68.62 lakh pensioners. This hike will be considered effective from January 1, 2022.

For one-and-a-half years from the year 2020, the government had frozen the DA and DR hike for its current and former employees due to the impact of the Kovid-19 pandemic. DA arrears have not been paid yet.

Increase in DA under 7th Pay Commission: DA doubled

At present, the government has increased the DA to 34 percent. In July 2021, the dearness allowance was at 17 percent i.e. it has doubled in the last 9 months. The government had increased the DA to 11 per cent in the month of July. Due to which it became 28 percent. Then in November it was increased by 3 per cent to 31 per cent.

How much will the salary increase after increasing DA?

Central government employees will get dearness allowance of 34 percent of the basic salary. If the basic salary of an employee is Rs 18,000. So earlier the employee was getting Rs 5,580 DA at the rate of 31 per cent DA. After the recent hike, the employee will get DA of Rs 6,120. This means an increase of 3 per cent DA will result in an increase of Rs 540.
