In the past, the central government had decided to increase the DA of its employees and pensioners. Now employees and pension holders will get salary and pension in the month of April with increased DA and arrears of three months (January, February and March). This will directly benefit about 45 lakh central employees and 65 lakh pensioners.
Let us tell you that the government had increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) of employees by 3 percent only last month, which has now increased from 31 percent to 34 percent. On behalf of the financial month also, it has been decided to implement the increase in dearness allowance from January 1 and give arrears of three months.
Dearness Allowance doubled in just 9 months
It is noteworthy that till January 2021 last year, central employees used to get 17 percent DA or dearness allowance. Later, the government increased it three times and made it directly from 17 to 34 percent in a year.
In such a situation, there has been a significant increase in the salary of central employees from January 2021 till now. However, this will cost the government exchequer Rs 9,544.50 crore annually.
Let us understand the calculation of increased DA?
Employees whose basic salary is Rs 18000 thousand and dearness allowance has become 34 percent, then now the employees will get DA of Rs 6,120. Whereas till now, Rs 5580 DA was available at the rate of 31 per cent.
Accordingly, there has been an increase of 540 in the monthly salary of the employees. At the same time, with the salary of April, the arrears of DA of 3 months will come. That is, it is now expected that the salary for the month of April will increase by Rs 2,160.
On the other hand, if the basic salary is Rs 56,900, then DA will be Rs 19,346 at the rate of 34 per cent. Whereas DA at 31 per cent was Rs 17,639. Accordingly, the salary increased by Rs 1,707 every month. In such a situation, it is expected that this time Rs 6,828 more is expected to come in April.
