Prospects of the 8th Pay Commission
The recommendations of the Pay Commission are implemented every 10 years regarding the salary of government employees. The last i.e. 7th Pay Commission was implemented in 2016, which increased the salary of the employees significantly. Now the 8th Pay Commission is likely to be implemented by 2026, and the employees hope that this will again increase their salary significantly.
Big relief for railway employees
This statement of Shiv Gopal Mishra also makes it clear that if the 8th Pay Commission is implemented, then the railway employees will get direct benefit from it. Given the inflation and rising cost of living, this increase will prove to be a big relief for them.
Role of employee unions
Employee unions like All India Railwaymen’s Federation hold regular talks with the government and put forward the demands of the employees. Such statements indicate that the employee unions are putting pressure on the government regarding the formation and recommendations of the Pay Commission.
Government’s stand
However, the government has not yet given any official statement on this issue. But in view of the assembly elections to be held in many states, it is expected that the government may soon take some concrete steps regarding the 8th Pay Commission. Due to the demands of the employees and inflation, announcing a salary hike can be an important decision for the government.
