How is the price decided?
First of all its price is decided by the international market. After this, the cost of bringing it to India, dealer’s commission, GST and other taxes together form the retail price of a cylinder. Gas is purchased in dollars, hence its prices are also affected by fluctuations in the dollar and rupee.
Import Parity Price Formula (IPP) is adopted to decide the price of gas. It is revised on the first of every month. However, it is not that it will not be changed in the middle of the month. Depending on the circumstances, it can be changed even in the middle of the month.
