Under this, regular employees of PSPCL will not only get casualty benefits but also medical advance amount up to Rs 3 lakh during emergencies.
PSPCL Employees News: There is a relief news for the electricity employees of Punjab. The Bhagwant Mann government of the state has launched an accident compensation policy for the employees of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), under which compensation will be provided to the employees who meet with accidents while on duty. This includes workers working on regular, contract and sub-contract basis.
Applicable from December 8, they will get benefits
Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said on Thursday that this policy, effective from December 8, 2023, has been prepared to provide financial assistance to employees including regular, contractual and sub-contract employees in the event of work-related accidents. Under this, regular employees of PSPCL will not only get casualty benefits but also medical advance amount up to Rs 3 lakh during emergencies.
Assistance will be available up to Rs 10 lakh
The Electricity Minister said that in case of accident to contract employees, the amount of ex-gratia has been increased from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh and by increasing the financial assistance, the amount of group insurance has been increased from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. There has been no change in this scheme for regular employees.
In the new policy, exgratia payment of Rs 10 lakh, group insurance of Rs 1 lakh and payment of medical bills as per government rules have been continued. However, now there is a medical advance arrangement for the treatment of employees injured due to electric shock immediately after the accident. There was no such system earlier.
Benefits will be available even in case of disability
The Power Minister said that earlier contract based and sub-contract based categories of workers did not get any financial benefit in case of non-fatal accidents, but the new policy has eliminated this gap and now Rs 10 lakh in case of 100 per cent disability. An amount of Rs. 10,000 will be paid. Compensation for disabilities will be determined proportionately depending on the severity of the incident.
