The government will soon prepare a new expressway from Agra to Gwalior, after which you will be in Gwalior within just an hour after seeing the Taj Mahal. Gwalior Fort is famous all over the world and with the completion of this expressway, the distance between the two cities will also reduce. National Highway Authority (NHAI) has given this information by tweeting on Sunday.

In fact, to improve road connectivity between major cities of the country and reduce travel time, the government is constructing expressways all around. In this series, a new expressway (Agra-Gwalior Expressway) will also be built between Agra and Gwalior. NHAI has informed by tweeting that the construction of the expressway between the two cities will start soon and there is a plan to build it at a rapid pace. For this, NHAI has also issued a tender, which is to be prepared in 3 parts. The name of the company making it will also be finalized by January 30, 2024. It is estimated to cost around Rs 2,500 crore.

What is the specialty of expressway

Agra-Gwalior Expressway will be built about 87 kilometers long. After the completion of this Greenfield Expressway, the travel time between the two cities will be less than 1 hour. Currently, to go from Agra to Gwalior one has to cover a distance of about 121 kilometers.

During this time it takes 3 to 4 hours, because due to heavy traffic on Agra-Gwalior Highway, the average speed of vehicles remains around 40 kilometers. After the expressway is ready, vehicles will be able to run at a speed of 120 km, which will reduce the travel time to less than 1 hour.

Who will benefit and what?

After the completion of this expressway, 3 states and 7 districts will directly benefit. This will not only help in increasing tourism, but will also benefit both the cities economically. This expressway will connect to UP, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, which will speed up the connectivity between these three states.

It will be easy to go from Delhi

After the completion of Agra-Gwalior Expressway, it will become easier to go from Delhi to Gwalior and the distance and time between the two cities will reduce significantly. Currently, one has to cover a distance of 360 kilometers from Delhi to Gwalior, which takes 6 to 7 hours. After the completion of the new expressway, the travel time between the two cities will be reduced to only 3 to 4 hours.

A big bridge will be built on Chambal

Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had recently said that for faster connectivity between Gwalior and Agra, the expressway will be constructed on the lines of Lucknow-Agra Expressway. For this, a long bridge will be built on Chambal river and the entire expressway will be made of 6 lanes.

After its completion, not only will Gwalior and Agra benefit, the movement of people from Jhansi, Bhind, Shivpuri, Morena and Datia districts will also become easier. Besides, it will also become quite easy to reach Kota district of Rajasthan.
