Employees DA Hike 2024 : Lakhs of employees got gifts, then dearness allowance increased by 4%, salary increased in the account, know when will they get the benefits?

Finance Minister Bhattacharya said that it has been decided to increase additional 4% DA for the employees, it will be applicable from May, which is in addition to the 4% DA announced in January i.e. now the benefit of 14% DA will be available from May.

West Bengal Employees DA Hike 2024: There is good news for lakhs of government employees of West Bengal. On Thursday, Minister of State for Finance Chandrima Bhattacharya, on behalf of the Mamata Banerjee government, presented a budget of Rs 3,66,166 crore for the financial year 2024-25 in the Assembly.

In this budget, 4% dearness allowance increase has been announced for the employees. After this increase, the total DA has become 14%, but it is 32% less than the central one, because currently the central employees are getting 46% DA.

Dearness allowance increased for government employees, effective from May

• Finance Minister Bhattacharya said that the state’s dues from the Center are around Rs 1.18 lakh crore but despite this the state government has decided to increase the additional 4% DA for the employees, this will be applicable from May, which is in addition to the 4% DA announced in January. There is an addition i.e. now the benefit of 14% DA will be available from May. The allowance of civic volunteers was increased by Rs 1000, for this the state government has allocated Rs 180 crore.
• Rs 3700 crore has been allocated for the arrears of 100 days of work of the workers. Under this, the arrears of wages will be paid to the workers for 100 days of work to meet the suspension of central allocation for more than a year, At least Rs 3000 crore will be allocated to repay the loans of unskilled workers.

DA was increased by 4 percent in January 2024

It is noteworthy that recently, from January 1, 2024, the Mamata Banerjee government of the state has increased the dearness allowance by 4 percent, after which the DA has become 10 percent, the benefits of which the employees have started getting from February.

Now in the budget, once again a 4 percent increase in DA of employees has been announced from May 1, 2024, after which it has increased to 14 percent. Since this will be applicable from May, the salary will increase in the account from June. Its benefit will be available to all 14 lakh employees of the state government, teaching and non-teaching staff of all schools, colleges and universities, employees of all government undertakings and pensioners.
