The remand period of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, arrested in a money laundering case related to the excise scam, is ending today and the investigating agency will present him before the court today.
In such a situation, the question in everyone’s mind is whether Kejriwal will get bail or will he go to jail in judicial custody. There is also a question whether after ED, CBI will now file an application before the court to take him on remand.
ED had arrested on March 21
After the remand period is over, the Enforcement Directorate team will present Kejriwal before Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of Rouse Avenue. On March 28, the court had extended Kejriwal’s remand by four days.
Earlier, Kejriwal, who was arrested on March 21, was produced by the ED in the court on March 22 and the court sent Kejriwal to ED custody for six days.
Accused of demanding bribe of Rs 100 crore
ED alleges that Kejriwal had demanded a bribe of Rs 100 crore from the liquor traders of the South Group in exchange for changes in the excise policy and the said amount was used in the Goa and Punjab assemblies.
Kejriwal has challenged the ED arrest and ED custody in the High Court and the matter is to be heard on April 3. In this case, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh are already in jail in judicial custody.
