Chandrachud directed to hear it tomorrow (Friday, August 9). In this petition, a plea has also been made to order NBEMS to issue the normalization formula.
Big news for more than 2 lakh candidates preparing for the medical PG degree/diploma entrance exam NEET PG 2024. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced to conduct NEET PG 2024 in two shifts on August 11, in which the admit cards of the candidates have been issued today, August 8. Meanwhile, a petition seeking postponement of this examination has been listed for hearing in the Supreme Court tomorrow i.e. Friday, August 9.
An urgent hearing was sought on this petition filed in the Supreme Court on Wednesday, August 7, on which the Chief Justice of India Justice D.Y. Chandrachud directed to hear it tomorrow (Friday, August 9). Through this petition filed through advocate Anas Tanvir, the petitioners have pleaded to order NBEMS to postpone the examination due to various problems, including the following:-
NBEMS has allotted exam cities to candidates from July 31 and the exam centre allotted in this city has been informed on August 8. It is difficult to make travel plans for the exam in such a short time.
Many candidates have been allotted exam cities far away from their place of residence, which is extremely difficult for them. It is impossible to get train tickets in such a short time. Also, it is difficult for many candidates to afford the ‘dynamic fare’ applicable for air travel.
NEET PG 2024: There is also a demand to release the normalization formula
The petitioners have not only demanded the postponement of the NEET PG 2024 exam but have also urged the Supreme Court to order NBEMS to release the normalization formula. Let us tell you that earlier this exam was to be conducted on 23 June in a single shift. However, the exam was postponed due to irregularities that came to light just before the examination.
Later NBEMS announced to conduct the examination on 11 August in 2 shifts.Â
Normalization formula is adopted by the examination agencies to evaluate the attempts of the candidates when the examination is conducted in more than one shift. The board has not shared any information about normalization either in the notification issued on April 16 for the examination or in the notice issued for the date of re-conduct.
