Ayushman Bharat Scheme has been renamed as PM Jan Arogya Yojana. This scheme provides health insurance of Rs 5 lakh. Earlier, people above 70 years of age were not included in this scheme, but now they are also covered. In this article, let us know which diseases are treated for free under the scheme.

Ayushman Bharat Yojana: Disease never comes looking at age and money. But, when it comes to treatment, there is a need to be financially stable. In such a situation, the Government of India started Ayushman Bharat Scheme in 2018. The name of this scheme was changed to PM Jan Arogay Yojana.

Earlier, senior citizens above 70 years of age were not included in this scheme. But now the age limit has been abolished in the scheme. This means that elderly people above 70 years of age will also be treated. In such a situation, the question arises that which diseases are treated for free under the scheme. All major diseases are covered in this scheme. Insurance of Rs 5 lakh is available under the scheme. Apart from this, cashless and paperless health services are also available in more than 29,000 hospitals across the country.

According to the website of Ayushman Bharat Yojana, this scheme treats serious diseases like cancer, heart disease, kidney related diseases, corona, cataract, dengue, chikungunya, malaria, knee and knee replacement. However, many diseases including cataract, surgical delivery, and malaria are treated only in government hospitals. These diseases have been removed from private hospitals.

Apart from this, surgery for serious diseases like prostate cancer, double valve replacement, coronary artery bypass, pulmonary valve replacement, knee and hip replacement, skull base surgery, tissue expander, pediatric surgery, radiation oncology, neurosurgery, angioplasty with stent can also be done in any hospital.

Where will Ayushman Card be made

To avail the benefits of the scheme, the beneficiary has to get Ayushman Card made. Ayushman Card can be applied for in both online and offline mode. For online, you have to apply by visiting the website https://pmjay.gov.in/. Whereas, for offline, you have to apply by visiting Common Service Center (CSC).

To get Ayushman Card, you have to give a photocopy of any of the ID proof like Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Driving License, Voter ID etc.
