Toll Tax Rules:Â The Road Transport and Highways Ministry has clarified the confusion that has spread regarding the 20 km toll tax free journey after the implementation of Global Navigation Satellite System on National Highways.
Discounts for local residents
Secretary of the Ministry Anurag Jain said that even in the current system, local residents living near the toll tax are given exemption for travelling twenty kilometres. Currently, they have to get this facility made on a monthly basis by paying some fee.
GNSS rules
In future, after the implementation of GNSS system, there will be no toll gates, so to continue this facility, the rule of GNSS has been included. Under this, if the distance of going to and coming from a point is 20 km or less, then toll tax will not be deducted.
