This means that iPhone users who cannot update above iOS 12.5.7 will have to either get a new device or replace the existing device to run WhatsApp.
Which iPhones will be affected?
According to a report by WABetainfo, this change will only affect iPhones that cannot update to iOS 15.1 or above. Users who already have iOS 15.1 or newer version will not have any problem.

Currently WhatsApp supports iOS 12 and above. But after the upcoming update, it will only run on iOS 15.1 or newer versions. WhatsApp has given five months to the affected users to prepare. During this time they can update their device or choose an option that supports the new iOS version.
Affected iPhone models
According to the report, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be affected by this change. These iPhones were launched 10 years ago, so the number of users running WhatsApp on these models is expected to be very low. Those who have new iPhone models and have a version older than iOS 15.1 can update their device by going to iPhone’s Settings > General > Software Update.
Why is WhatsApp doing this?
