After comedian Sunil Pal, Welcome and Stree 2 actor Mushtaq Khan‘s kidnapping has come to the forefront. His business partner Shivam Yadav revealed details about this harrowing incident. He revealed how Mushtaq was invited to an award show in Meerut on November 20. He was given advance payment and flight tickets for the show. However, upon landing in Delhi, he was instructed to get into a car, which then drove him to the outskirts of Delhi, reportedly near Bijnor.
Mushtaq Khan was tortured and extorted by the kidnappers
Speaking to India Today Digital , Shivam further shared that alleged kidnappers tortured Mushtaq for nearly 12 hours and demanded a crore as ransom. They eventually extorted Rs 2 lakh from the actor and his son’s account. Early in the morning, upon hearing azaan, he realised that a mosque would be close and managed to escape. He took help from the locals and with the support of police, safely returned home.
Shivam further said that Mushtaq’s family is shaken by the whole incident. He has also registered an FIR against the kidnappers. “Yesterday, I went to Bijnor and filed an official FIR. We have proof of the flight ticket, the bank accounts and even CCTV footage near the airport. He also recognises the neigbhourhood, even the house where he was kept. I think the police team will surely get the culprits soon.” Shivam said.
This incident bears a striking similarity to the recent experience of comedian Sunil Pal. It raises questions about actors safety and defrauding them under the guise of event invitations. When asked about the same, Shivam replied, “We had no clue about the case. After Mushtaq sir returned, we spoke about the incident with a few of our close friends. When Sunil’s case was highlighted in the media, they informed us about the same. It is shocking that two public figures from the industry had to go through a similar ordeal. We hope there is awareness and protection in the future for everyone.”
