When do you get a full refund?

According to the rules of Indian Railways, if the train is delayed by 3 hours or more, then the passenger can claim a full refund on cancelling the ticket. However, if the passenger has booked a Tatkal ticket, then no refund will be given on cancelling the ticket.

To get a full refund, passengers will have to submit the Ticket Deposit Receipt.

Where to file TDR

Passengers can file TDR (Ticket Deposit Receipt-TDR) by visiting the official portal of IRCTC. To file offline TDR, they will have to go to the ticket counter. They will have to surrender the ticket by going to the ticket counter, after which they will get a full refund. Let us tell you that it takes a minimum of 90 days to get a refund after surrendering the TDR or ticket.

How to file TDR

  • First of all, log in to the IRCTC website with the help of user ID and password.
  • Now go to the ‘Services’ option and select “File Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR)”.
  • After this, click on My Transactions.
  • Now the “File TDR” option will appear on the screen, select it.
  • Now submit after giving all the information.
  • After this, the claim request will be sent to the Indian Railways. After the request is accepted by the Railways, you will get a refund.
  • Note that the refund amount will come to the bank account through which you booked the ticket.
