  2. I wish getting a birth certificate in India was that easy. Now having the Aadhar number of the infant is mandatory before registering for birth certificate. The name on the birth certificate cannot be updated unless and until you have Aadhar number. All of you be knowing that how complicated the Aadhar related issues are and how the redressal system for the same is.

  6. The process of applying for birth certificate is ok. There are many cases where the birth was either not registered by the parents or missing in records by the authorities. Problem arises at this point. For most of the purposes in India the certificate issued by the Secondary School Leaving is sufficient. Only in case of applications to foreign universities and Green card etc., the trouble comes. All that they demand is a certificate of birth or a certificate stating that no records found. Here the authorities seek so many certifications, which are impossible to get in India. This can be simplified to a large extent. In India the child is usually born in mother’s place and there may not be any need for the child to to live in that place. If the birth is not registered there by some lapse, how will one get a certificate.
    I suggest a simple formula.
    1. Let the party himself/herself or the parent submit application declaring the birth date, time and place
    2. The authorities check the registration particulars and issue the certificate
    3. In case the registration is not found, issue a certificate stating no record of registration could be found.
