In this series, the government is planning to allow subscribers of the Atal Pension Yojana (APY) a partial withdrawal from the employee’s share. This can help reduce the economic crisis of workers in the unorganized sector. Significantly, the government has done a 21-day lockdown in the country since March 25 to prevent the spread of the corona virus.


Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority of India (PFRDA) chairman Supratim Bandhopadhyay said that in view of the Korana virus epidemic, the government’s circular regarding the Atal Pension Yojana subscribers being allowed partial withdrawal from the pension fund could come in a day or two. is.

Bandopadhyay said, ‘Our regulation already rules for partial withdrawal under special circumstances. These circumstances include life-threatening emergencies and critical illness. ‘ Here we have made a classification that these should also include Kovid-19.


The PFRDA chairman said that the authority has requested the Finance Ministry to implement this provision. Bandhopadhyay said, “This circular will be issued today or tomorrow.” He said that in case of other contingencies of partial withdrawal, the withdrawal limit has been kept at 25 percent of the fund earned by the employee’s contribution. As on 31 March 2019, the total number of subscribers of the Atal Pension Yojana was 2.11 crore.
