Income Tax Return Filing: The last date for filing Income Tax Return is 31st December. Now new taxpayers can file ITR from the comfort of their homes through the e-filing portal.

Income Tax Return Filing: Income Tax Payers (Income Tax Payers) to your income tax return by the end of this month (ITR) must be filed. Only a few days are left for the deadline to end. For their convenience, the central government has launched an e-filing portal, using which taxpayers can file income tax returns online. But to access the services, they have to log in to the Income Tax e-portal.

Let us tell you, taxpayers should keep in mind that they have to file Income Tax Return (ITR) for the financial year 2021-22, which they may find themselves in trouble if they fail to file it on time.

The e-filing portal launched on June 7 was not “taxpayer friendly” and had several glitches, due to which the Income Tax Department later extended the deadline for filing ITR.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), in a statement, had said that the due date for furnishing the return of income for the assessment year 2021-22, that is, July 31, 2021 under sub-section (1) of section 139 of the Act, was , which was extended up to September 30, 2021, vide circular number 9. /2021 dated 20.05.2021, is hereby extended to 31st December, 2021.

  • Visit the Income Tax e-Portal using the link https://www.incometax.gov.in/.
  • Select the Login Here option on the homepage
  • Enter your Permanent Account Number or PAN in the Enter Your User ID option and then click on Continue.
  • After this, you have to confirm the secure access message that you have received.
  • Then click on continue
  • From here, you have to choose whether you want to receive the 6 digit OTP via text message or voice call.
  • After clicking on the option, click on Enter.
  • The OTP will be valid for 15 minutes, after which you will have to generate a new one.
  • You will have three chances to enter the correct OTP.
  • Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number or email ID and then click on login.
  • Income Tax e-Filing Dashboard will appear after successful verification
  • You can use your registered Aadhaar number or net banking to log in to the Income Tax e-filing portal.
  • For Aadhaar login, you can enter Aadhaar number and provide OTP as instructed.
  • You need to enter your User ID and Password to access your account for Net Banking.
