Railway Board has given great relief to the employees. Actually those employees who are very close to retirement or have retired.

He will be eligible for application of Traveling Allowance (TA). An Office Memorandum (OM) has been issued in this regard. In which lakhs of employees will get the benefit of their traveling allowance directly. For this some rules and instructions have been fixed. WOffice Memorandum hich will be mandatory for the employees to follow.

Railway Board has issued an Office Memorandum on the eligibility of Traveling Allowance for persons re-employed in Railways after retirement.

According to which if the employee is to be transferred from one station to another or posted at a station other than the place of disposal. On completion of which the pensioner can apply for Transport Accommodation (TA).

TA may be allowed to the employees even after the completion of the period of re-employment. Eligibility for TA WRT Will happen. At the time of retirement the last hold post and last pay under Railways will be considered.

In case of appointment of a re-employed person from any other than Railway, the eligibility of TA will be as per the equivalence assigned to the post in the Railway.

Pursuant to the Office Memorandum of the Ministry of Finance/Department of Expenditure dated 24.01.2022, it has been decided to regulate the payment of traveling allowance,

admissibility of traveling allowance to a person re-employed in the Central Government service in March 2022 on the subject of concession. . Which are as follows:-

1.Where the pensioner has been re-employed and TA on retirement has already been claimed by the re-employed pensioner. Or from the office/organization from where the employee has retired/superannuated:

  • He will be allowed TA for such appointment. If such appointment is made at a station other than the place of settlement or such appointment requires change of residence at the place of settlement.
  • He will be allowed TA even after the completion of the period of re-employment. In both the cases, TA will be reimbursed by the office/organization where the pensioner is re-employed.

2. If the re-employed pensioner has not claimed traveling allowance on retirement within one year of his retirement and is re-employed under the Railways before the expiry of one year from the date of retirement:

  • He will be allowed TA for such appointment. If the appointment is made at a station other than the last station of duty or such appointment requires change of residence at the last station of duty. He will be allowed TA even after the completion of the period of re-employment.
  • The expenses for TA on joining such appointment shall be borne by that organization. From where the pensioner is retired/retired. On completion of the period of re-employment, TA will be reimbursed by the office/organization where the pensioner has been re-employed.

3. In case of a person re-employed from any other than Railway, he will be allowed TA as per the provision in para 1 (i) above.

Whereas as per the OM issued, the admissibility of TA in the above cases will be subject to the following:-

  • Eligibility for TA WRT The last post under Railways at the time of retirement will be of hold and last pay.
  • In case of appointment of a re-employed person from any other than Railway, the eligibility of TA will be as per the equivalence given for the post in the Railway.
  • The other provisions of Railway TA Rules given in Chapter-16 of Indian Railway Establishment Code shall apply to Railway Officers on transfer in public interest as amended from time to time.
  • This order will be effective from the date of issue of this Office Memorandum. Old cases already settled will not be reopened.
