7th Pay Commission Latest News: After the announcement of restoration of old pension scheme by the Rajasthan government, lakhs of government employees working across the country have once again got hope. The employees’ unions are also slowly making their voices vocal.

Since then, there is increasing pressure on the central and state governments to take quick steps in this regard. Meanwhile, on the lines of the Rajasthan government, the Chhattisgarh government is also planning to re-implement the old pension scheme.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has indicated this today (February 27). He also discussed this issue with former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was also present during this meeting in Delhi. However, no official statement regarding this has been issued by the state government yet.

In the state budget for the year 2022-23, CM Gehlot had announced to implement the old pension scheme in place of New Pension Scheme (NPS) for the employees appointed on January 1, 2004 and after this. It is being welcomed by the employees across the state.

It is noteworthy that in the year 2004, the old pension scheme was abolished. For a long time, unions of government employees have been demanding restoration of the old pension scheme.

Before 2004, employees used to get a fixed pension after retirement under the old pension scheme. This pension was based on the salary of the employee at the time of retirement. Under this scheme, after the death of the retired employee, there was a provision of pension to his family members as well.

The Atal Bihari Vajpayee government of BJP had closed the old pension scheme for central employees appointed after April 2005 and the new pension scheme was implemented. In the new pension, 10 percent government and 10 percent employee’s contribution is made.
