Yes, now the government has helped people to keep their driving license on their phone or have provided the option to make soft copy of it available to the people through DigiLocker or mParivahan app.
At the same time, this is especially useful when you forget to carry the physical copy of your driving license. In addition, storing your driving license on your smartphone helps protect your hard copy from being lost or stolen.
In 2018, the government passed an advisory for states to accept driving license and vehicle registration stored in DigiLocker and mParivahan apps. That move was intended to eliminate the need to carry physical versions of documents while driving.
First of all, open an account on DigiLocker, then sign up on DigiLocker using your phone number and Aadhar card.
Visit the Digital Locker site and then you will receive a one-time password (OTP) on your registered phone.
After signing in, click on the Get Scanned Documents button. Now, look for the word Driving License” in the search bar.
Select the state government from where you have obtained your driving license. Alternatively, you can select the All States option.
Enter your driving license number and hit the Get Document button. Be sure to click the checkbox to provide your consent to DigLocker to share your data with the issuer before proceeding.
DigiLocker will now get your driving license from the Transport Department. Now you can view your driving license by going to the issued document list.
Driving License PDF can be downloaded in soft copy by clicking on the button.
You can also get it on your smartphone by downloading the Digilocker app.
On the other hand, if you do not want to sign up on DigiLocker for any reason and are looking for some other option, you can also download the mParivahan app from Google Play or Apple’s App Store and then sign up Huh. Once you sign up you will get your driving license under DL Dashboard tab.
