DMRC’s newly appointed Managing Director Vikas Kumar has given a big assurance. He has told that even if there is a situation like blackout,
then the passengers will not be trapped inside the trains in the middle of the way. He has said this in the midst of the ongoing power crisis. According to him, Delhi Metro uses only 2% of the electricity consumed in the whole of Delhi.
On the 28th foundation day of Delhi Metro, DMRC’s newly appointed Managing Director Vikas Kumar assured the people of Delhi-NCR and all the commuters of the Metro in connection with the ongoing power crisis that such arrangements have been made separately in the Metro.
It is said that even if there is a situation like blackout, then the passengers will not be trapped inside the trains in the middle of the way. Rather, trains can be evacuated by safely reaching the nearest stations and ensuring safe evacuation of passengers.
He said that Delhi Metro uses only 2% of the electricity consumed in the whole of Delhi. Delhi Metro requires about 3 million units of electricity per day, which it gets from different grids, but apart from this, some of the power supply in the entire metro network for emergency situations is through generator sets, UPS, inverters and other modes.
Such arrangements have also been made so that the passengers do not have to remain stranded even if the power supply is completely disrupted. He said that Delhi Metro is getting enough power now and there is no crisis of any kind at the moment.
Vikas Kumar said that the decline in ridership of Metro due to Kovid is also improving now and about 75 percent ridership has been achieved. It is expected that soon the situation will be restored to the former or better.
He also assured that the Phase-IV work will also be completed on time. The new metro corridor and a new metro station, which has been built here to connect the International Convention Center being built in Dwarka to Dwarka Sector-21 through metro, will also open by August.
