Actually, recently the government has made some changes in this matter so that you can book up to 12 tickets in a month. Aadhaar verification was not necessary for booking 6 tickets in the first month. You will continue to book 6 such tickets without Aadhaar verification.
With Aadhaar, the government has given a separate facility to book 12 tickets in a month. In this, IRCTC registered user has to verify himself with Aadhaar by going to Aadhaar KYC option in My Profile. The Aadhaar verification of the user is done through the OTP sent to the mobile number registered in his Aadhaar.
How to do Aadhaar Verification in IRCTC Account
- In web browser type www.irctc.co.in and log in here
- When the home page opens, scroll down to the MY ACCOUNT section and click on the Link Your Aadhaar section.
- Now the Aadhaar KYC page will open in front of you. Here, enter the same name in the box as your name in Aadhaar. Also enter Aadhar number or Virtual ID. Then select the checkbox and click on the Send OTP button at the bottom.
- Now on the next page, enter the OTP that came on the mobile number in the box and then click on the Verify OTP button
- By doing this you will be on the next page where you will see the information related to Aadhaar KYC. Then click on the Update button below.
- By doing this a pop up window with confirmation will be in front of you. OK it and close www.irctc.co.in and log in again and now your Aadhaar is verified.
How to Verify Passengers with Aadhar
- First of all login your account on www.irctc.co.in
- Now scroll down to MY ACCOUNT section on the home page and go to My Profile and click on Add/Modify Master List link
- On the Add/Modify Master List page, enter Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Birth Preference, Food Preference, Senior Citizen Concession (if applicable), ID Card Type and ID Card Number (Aadhaar Number) and click on Submit button.
- Now this information of the passenger gets added to the master list and you can see the same in the passenger list as well.

- Now click on Click here to check pending Aadhaar Verification Status to verify the Aadhaar Verification details of the Passenger. If the details are correct then it will be verified and an alert will be displayed on the screen.

- Keep in mind that first the IRCTC user ID should be Aadhaar verified and the traveling passenger should also be Aadhaar verified.
- At the time of booking, the Aadhaar verified passenger traveling should be selected from the Saved Passenger List.
- Now you login to www.irctc.co.in and decide your train choice and travel date etc. Now click on My Saved Passenger(s) List on Passenger Input page and click on Aadhar Verified Passengers from right side panel Select the
- By doing this, all the information will be automatically displayed on the reservation form itself.
- From amongst the passengers traveling, only one passenger should be Aadhaar verified, he/she should have been selected from My Saved Passenger(s) List.
- Now fire up the booking process. Review the booking details and make the payment and your ticket is booked.
