Delhi News Delhi is still waiting to reach the metro in many areas. People find it difficult to reach the metro station due to non-availability of public vehicles. Now MMI system is being implemented to overcome this problem.
Work is underway to make public transport available within 300 meters of the metro station. For this, Multi-Modal Integration (MMI) system is being implemented at 96 metro stations. Out of these, this work has been completed at 59 stations and tenders have been floated for ten stations. This facility will facilitate those traveling in Metro. Safe movement of women, elderly and children will be ensured. People will be able to reach their home or workplace easily.
Metro is still waiting to reach in many areas of the capital. People have to walk several kilometers to reach the metro station. They find it difficult to reach the metro station due to non-availability of public vehicles. To overcome this problem, MMI system is being implemented. Under this system, the last mile connectivity from the metro station will be ensured. Bus, auto, e-rickshaw facility will be available for the people.
Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), says that MMI is the best way to utilize public transport. DMRC is making every effort to implement this. Along with this, work is also being done for the beautification of the stations.
Facilities available at Metro Stations under MMI
Facility for deboarding and seating of passengers for public vehicles near metro station. Cycle track and safe place for walking. Roads are being widened for these facilities. Charging facility for e-vehicles along with providing parking space.
24 crores will be spent on ten stations
24.28 crore will be spent to implement MMI at Janakpuri East, Uttam Nagar West, Dwarka Mor, Nehru Place, Nawada, Shahdara, Shastri Park, Shastri Nagar, Jahangirpuri and Karolbagh metro stations. Tender for this has been floated by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.
