The scheme was started 8 years ago
It is worth noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the launch of Jan Dhan Yojana in his Independence Day address in 2014. This scheme was started on 28 August this year. According to the ministry, the number of accounts with zero balance has come down continuously since 2015. In March 2015, there were 58% accounts in which there was no balance, but on January 6, it has come down to 7.5%. That is, now people are also depositing money in it.

Required documents
You can also submit documents fulfilling the requirement of Know Your Customer (KYC) including Aadhar Card, Passport, Driving License to open a Jan Dhan account. If you do not have documents, you can open a small account. In this, you have to fill the self-attested photograph and your signature in front of the bank officer.
