In a circular, UIDAI has given ways to protect against Aadhar card fraud. Along with this, information has also been given about what an Aadhaar user should and should not do.

Aadhar card is an important document and it is a must for every Indian citizen. It consists of a 12-digit UIDAI number, which is an identification number for Indian citizens. Aadhar card is used for any government services like banking services, telecom services. In such a situation, verification and authentication of Aadhar card becomes more necessary. UIDAI provides this facility online and offline.

With the use of Aadhar card everywhere, many problems also arise. Aadhar card getting in the wrong hands can also lead to your misuse. In such a situation, utmost care should be taken to protect the Aadhar card from fraud. Here are some ways, so that you can protect your Aadhar card from fraud.

In a circular issued on September 23, UIDAI has given ways to protect against Aadhar card fraud. Along with this, information has also been given about what an Aadhaar user should and should not do.

What to do with Aadhaar card

  • It is a digital identity card, so use your Aadhaar as and when required.
  • Take special care while sharing your Aadhar card with any authenticity that you do while using your other documents.
  • While sharing the Aadhar card with any organization, make sure to know about its use.
  • If you do not want to share Aadhar card number with anyone, then you can share Virtual ID i.e. VID.
  • Keep checking your Aadhar card history.
  • Link the email with your Aadhar card, so that authentication and any changes are sent to your mail.
  • Keep mobile number up to date with Aadhar card.
  • Keep your biometric locked in case the Aadhar card is not used, you can unlock it later to use it.

What not to do with Aadhaar card

  • Do not leave your Aadhar card or PVC card, or a copy thereof, unattended.
  • Do not share your Aadhaar publicly with any unknown person on social media (‘Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc.) and other public platforms.
  • Do not disclose your Aadhaar OTP to any unauthorized entity.
  • Do not share your m-Aadhaar with anyone.
