There is relief news for the employees. They will be given 42 days leave. The DoPT has issued an order regarding special casual leave for them.

Employees Casual Leave: There is good news for the employees. Actually they will be given the benefit of leave. DoPT has issued orders for this. Under the issued order, he will be given approval for special casual leave. They will be given 42 days leave. Rules and policies have also been fixed for this.

The order states that the department is considering granting special casual leave to organ donors in the light of several references/queries received in consultation with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Removing an organ from a donor is a major surgery. Including the time it takes to recover, including hospitalization and the period after hospitalization.

Special casual leave up to a maximum of 42 days

Further, keeping in view the noble activity of helping another human being and promoting organ donation among the Central Government employees, it has now been decided that the Central Government 42 days special casual leave should be given.

Rules set

  • To any other person, as a special welfare measure in the public interest, notwithstanding the provision under Appendix-III of the CCS (Leave) Rules, 1972, for grant of special casual leave not exceeding 30 days in a calendar year, subject to the following conditions: They will get the benefit of leave.
  • Irrespective of any type of surgery for removal of donor organ, the maximum period of Special Casual Leave as recommended by a Government Registered Medical Practitioner/Physician shall be 42 days.
  • Leave will be granted to all types of living donors, provided the donor is duly approved for donation by a Government Registered Medical Practitioner as per the Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994.
  • Special Casual Leave shall not be combined with any other leave except in exceptional circumstances of complications of surgery on the medical recommendation of a Government Registered Medical Practitioner/Physician.
  • Special Casual Leave will normally be taken in one go from the day of hospitalization. However, if required, it can be availed maximum one week prior to the surgery on the recommendation of a Government Registered Medical Practitioner/Physician. ,
    Split leave may be permitted on the recommendation of the treating Government Registered Medical Practitioner/Physician.
  • Treatment in respect of organ donation shall be done as far as possible from an authorized hospital. In case where no authorized hospital is available in the area/zone of treatment and the treatment is done from a private hospital, it is mandatory to submit a medical certificate duly attested by the concerned HOD of the hospital.
  • “Authorised hospital” is defined as a government hospital or a private hospital empaneled under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS).
  • These orders shall apply from the date of issue to Government servants appointed to civil services and posts in connection with the affairs of the Union of India in accordance with Rule 2 of the CCS (Leave) Rules, 1972.
