Income tax return filing: Salaried taxpayers should file their income tax return before the last date to avoid penalty.
Income Tax Return Filing: The Income Tax Department said on Tuesday that till June 26, more than 1 crore Income Tax Returns (ITR) have been filed and this figure is much higher than last year. For salaried taxpayers and taxpayers who do not need to get their accounts audited, the last date for filing tax returns for income earned in the financial year 2022-23 is July 31.
The Income Tax Department said in a tweet that the target of filing one crore ITRs was achieved 12 days earlier this year as compared to the same period last year. The Income Tax Department said, “This year more than one crore income tax returns have been filed till June 26, while last year 1 crore ITRs were filed till July 8.” The department also urged taxpayers to file their ITR early. Have appealed, so that last minute haste and overcrowding can be avoided.

The income of the salaried person does not come under the purview of tax, yet if TDS is deducted due to any reason, then refund can be taken only after filing the return. ITR has to be filed to claim tax refund. After the ITR is filed, the Income Tax Department assesses it. If refund is being made then it is processed.
