Monsoon: Heavy to very heavy rains may occur in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan. Also, during the next three days, there are chances of heavy rains in Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Bihar.

There is no hope of respite even on Monday in many parts including North India which are facing heavy rains. India Meteorological Department i.e. IMD has informed on Sunday that there are possibilities of heavy to very heavy rains from Delhi to Madhya Pradesh. Whereas, Uttar Pradesh will have to face torrential rains for 5 days. Statistics are showing that more than 50 people have died in North India in weather-related incidents.

Uttar Pradesh will not get relief

The rains are likely to continue in Uttar Pradesh till July 15. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of light to moderate rains in different areas of the state till July 13. From Monday to Wednesday, there may be heavy rains at some places in the entire state. Thereafter, light to moderate rain or thundershowers would occur over most parts of the state on Thursday and Friday.

The rain won’t stop even here

The Meteorological Department has said that heavy to very heavy rains may occur in West Himalayan region, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan on Monday. Also, there are chances of heavy rains in Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Bihar during next three days. Heavy rain may occur at a few places in West Madhya Pradesh today. Coastal Karnataka and Kerala are not expected to get any respite from rain for the next five days.

In Bihar, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of thunder and lightning at many places for the next three days. Partly cloudy movement and light to moderate rain conditions may occur over Patna and other places. At present, the Monsoon Trough is extending from Jaisalmer to Manipur via Ajmer, Shivpuri, Siddhi, Daltonganj, Shakti Niketan. Under its effect, there is a warning of heavy rain on Monday in a total of five districts including three districts of Champaran and Seemanchal.

8 days of rain made up for the deficiency

Torrential rains in many parts of the country in the first eight days of July made up for the rain deficit. The cumulative rainfall in the current monsoon season has reached 243.2 mm, which is two per cent more than the normal rainfall of 239.1 mm. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has given this information on Sunday.
