The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has developed these formats for the convenience of the people. According to the UIDAI website, all these formats of Aadhaar card are valid. 1. Aadhaar letter

It is a paper based laminated letter. It consists of a secure QR code with the date of issue and date of print of Aadhaar card. Whether to make a new Aadhaar or to update necessary biometrics in it, this Aadhaar letter is free. It is sent through post. If your old Aadhaar card is lost or damaged, you can get a new Aadhaar card. For this, you can order Aadhaar letter replacement online from UIDAI website with a fee of Rs 50.

2. Aadhaar PVC Card

The base PVC card is made of PVC. These aadhar cards are lightweight and durable. Many of these contain a QR code with a digital signature, a photo and the Aadhaar number. Aadhaar PVC card is sent to the applicant’s address through speed post. You can apply for it online by visiting uidai.gov.in with a fee of Rs 50 through Aadhaar number, Virtual ID or Enrollment ID.

3. M Aadhaar

This is an official mobile application developed by UIDAI. It acts as an interface for Aadhaar number holders to carry their Aadhaar records registered with CIDR. This record also contains the data and a photo along with the Aadhaar number. It also includes QR code for offline verification. mAadhaar is also available for download at no cost.

4. E-Aadhaar

This is the electronic form of Aadhaar. It is password protected. It contains a secure QR code for offline verification. You can download your e-Aadhaar from the official website of UIDAI using your registered mobile number.
