Delhi Rain Updates- Yamuna river has broken all records of water level in the country’s capital Delhi due to floods caused by incessant rains in Uttarakhand. Due to this, flood situation has arisen in the areas adjacent to Yamuna river of the capital. In view of the flood situation, a holiday has been declared in schools in Delhi. Now the state government has closed the schools and colleges till Sunday (July 16). Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made this announcement after the DDMA meeting. Along with this, the state government has also implemented the system of work from home for government offices. The Chief Minister has said that there will be a problem in the water supply in the capital for two days.
What did CM Kejriwal say after the meeting
Chief Minister Kejriwal said, many important decisions have been taken in the DDMA meeting. Schools, colleges and universities of the capital will remain closed till Sunday. It has been decided to close them. Only government offices with essential services will be opened. All other government offices have also been asked to work from home. An appeal is also being made to private companies and institutions to keep their offices closed and work from home.

Water plant closed due to flood, there will be problem in supply
Chief Minister Kejriwal has also given a big update regarding water supply. He said that for the next one or two days the people of Delhi are going to face the problem of water supply. Actually, due to flood in Yamuna, 3 plants including Wazirabad water treatment plant had to be closed. In these water treatment plants, flood water filled with mud silt. Due to this the treatment process has stopped. Due to the closure of these plants, the water supply of the capital is going to be affected in a big way. Even VVIP areas like Rashtrapati Bhavan, South Block and Supreme Court and High Court will also be affected.
These schools were already closed in Delhi
10 schools in Civil Line area of Municipal Corporation of Delhi are already closed, while holiday has been declared in 7 MCD schools in Shahdara area. Schools were kept closed in view of the massive impact of floods in these areas.

Schools are already closed due to Kanwar Yatra in Ghaziabad
All the schools in Ghaziabad district have already been kept closed till 15th July. On Sunday, the District Education Officer of Ghaziabad had said that all schools in the district would remain closed due to heavy rains. Apart from this, the District Magistrate has also issued an advisory regarding heavy rains. Although the Kanwar Yatra has also affected the schools in the district. There are instructions to run online classes in schools in the areas most affected by the Kanwar Yatra.
School closed in Meerut-Muzaffarnagar due to Kanwar Yatra
The effect of Kanwar Yatra is most visible in Meerut and Muzaffarnagar districts. Due to this, schools in these districts have already been declared closed till 15th July. In these districts too, there has been heavy flood in the areas adjacent to the river Ganges.
Schools are closed in Haridwar till July 17.
In Haridwar district too, schools have been kept closed due to Kanwar Yatra. The district administration has declared holiday in all schools from 10 to 17 July. Due to this, the schools in Haridwar have not been affected by the floods caused by the spate of the Ganga river and Solani rivers.
