Light to moderate rain at one or two places with isolated heavy falls very likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, parts of Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and North Punjab and North Haryana.
IMD Alert Today : Due to active Monsoon and active Monsoon conditions at different places, rain activities are continuing in most parts of the country. Life has become busy due to incessant rains. Many rivers including Ganga and Yamuna are flowing above the danger mark, while many states are in the grip of floods. On Friday also, the Indian Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rains in more than a dozen states including MP, UP, Haryana, Maharashtra. From July 29, there will be an increase in rain intensity over parts of East India while there will be a decrease in rain intensity over parts of South Peninsular India.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, there may be light to moderate rains in Delhi-NCR from July 28 i.e. Friday till August 1. Yellow alert has been issued for the next three days in Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh. Heavy rains for 4 days in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, and warning of moderate and heavy rain at some places till July 30 has been issued in Northeast India. Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh may receive heavy rains till July 29. There are chances of rain in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand as well. The hilly states may receive heavy rains till August 1.
According to weather forecast agency Skymet, light to moderate rain at one or two places with heavy rain at a few places over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, parts of Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and North Punjab and North Haryana Can Whereas Gujarat, Jharkhand, South Haryana, Bihar, South Punjab, Lakshadweep, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu may receive light rains. Heavy rain is expected in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir on Friday and Saturday.

Orange alert has been issued in view of heavy rains in Ambala, Karnal, Kurukshetra and Kaithal of Haryana. The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of rain with thunder in other districts, so a yellow alert has been issued in these districts. Orange alert has been issued in 7 districts of Himachal – Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Bilaspur, Solan, Shimla and Sirmaur districts and Yellow alert has been issued in Lahaul and Spiti, Kullu, Kinnaur, Hamirpur and Una, same on July 29 There is also a possibility of heavy rain.
Monsoon has become active in Bihar. There is a possibility of heavy rains in 20 districts including Patna from 29th to 31st July. It may rain in many districts for the next two days. The Meteorological Department has warned about rain and thundershowers in Aurangabad district.
Heavy rains are expected over Coastal and North Karnataka and Telangana in the south, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Arunachal Pradesh and Assam Meghalaya in the northeast.
Light to moderate rains may occur in Delhi-NCR from July 28 i.e. Friday till August 1. Yellow alert has been issued in Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh for the next three days. There is also a possibility of strong thunderstorms in Saurashtra and Kutch areas of Gujarat.
The monsoon system will remain active in the eastern part of Madhya Pradesh for the next 2 to 3 days. There will be a period of rain in the south-eastern part as well. Heavy rains may occur at isolated places in Gwalior, Chambal, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Rewa and Sagar divisions. An alert has been issued for moderate to heavy rains in Dindori and Mandla on Friday. Whereas, Vidisha, Raisen, Rajgarh, Narmadapuram, Harda, Mandsaur, Guna, Shivpuri, Bhind, Datia, Sheopurkalan, Anuppur, Umaria, Katni, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Seoni, Balaghat, Panna, Damoh, Sagar, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh and There may be heavy rains in Niwari as well.
Holiday has been declared for all schools in Raigad district of Maharashtra. Orange alert of rain has been issued here. Schools and colleges in Panvel, Palghar, Ratnagiri have also been closed due to heavy rains. An alert has been issued for heavy rains in Palghar today. Ghat areas of central Maharashtra will see rain till Saturday. During this, excessive rainfall will be recorded in Madhya Maharashtra. ‘Yellow’ alert has been issued for Mumbai.
Gorakhpur, Rae Bareli, Balrampur, Gonda, Basti, Badayun, Jalaun, Lalitpur, Meerut, Bulandshahr, Hamirpur, Firozabad, Jhansi, Agra, Etah, Mathura, Agra, Kanpur Dehat, Jalaun, Baghpat, Kasganj, Hamirpur, Etawah, Uttar Pradesh Heavy rain warning has been issued in Hapur, Jalaun, Hathras, Bijnor and Muzaffarnagar today. Winds with a speed of 40-50 KMP are expected in different areas of Uttar Pradesh for the next 2-3 days.
Jharkhand has so far received about 48 per cent less rainfall than normal during the monsoon period from June 1 to July 27. The Meteorological Department has predicted good rains in different parts of the state till next 2 August.
There is a possibility of rain in 17 districts of Punjab today. It will be partly cloudy today in Majha, Malwa and East Malwa. Yellow and orange rain alert has been issued in 10 districts of East Malwa today. This alert has been issued in Mansa, Sangrur, Barnala, Patiala, Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ludhiana, Moga, Jalandhar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.
Multiple systems active at once
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, a low pressure area is present over Interior Odisha and adjoining Chhattisgarh. The Monsoon Trough is active and lies to the south of its normal position. It is very likely to move slowly northwards during next 2 days. While a Cyclonic Circulation is located at the lower tropospheric level in and around Punjab, all these activities are expected to have an impact on the weather during the next few days.
