Delhi Petrol Dealers Association has issued a statement saying that RBI has fixed the cut-off date for banks to deposit or exchange Rs 2000 notes till 30 September 2023. Dealers Association says that as per RBI guidelines, petrol pumps of Delhi will not accept Rs 2000 notes after September 29, 2023.

Delhi Petrol Dealers Association has asked common citizens to cooperate in following the RBI notification. Let us tell you that only three days are left to deposit or exchange Rs 2000 notes in your account. Still, Rs 2000 notes worth Rs 24,000 crore which are lying with the common people are yet to be returned to the banking system. In fact, on May 19, 2023, the Reserve Bank of India had announced the withdrawal of Rs 2000 notes. According to RBI (Reserve Bank of India), till March 31, 2023, Rs 2000 notes worth Rs 3.62 lakh crore were in circulation, which came down to Rs 3.56 lakh crore on May 19, 2023.

Petrol pump dealers of Delhi will not accept Rs 2000 notes. But let us tell you that even after September 30, 2023, the status of Rs 2000 note will remain legal tender. However, RBI can issue guidelines for those who will not be able to deposit or exchange notes till September 30. Experts believe that to provide relief to such people, RBI can issue some guidelines on September 30.
