RBI on 2000 Note: Today, on the last day of the month of September, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has given a big relief to those people of the country who till now could not exchange the Rs 2000 notes which have been taken out of circulation due to any reason. Were. RBI has now extended its deadline to 7 October 2023.

It is noteworthy that earlier the last date for doing this work was fixed as 30th September. This period was ending today. Even before this, RBI has now given seven days time to the people.

According to today’s decision of RBI, Rs 2000 notes will remain legal tender. That means, if you also have Rs 2000 notes, then there is no need to worry at all. Because these can still be easily exchanged by visiting any bank or regional office of RBI.

What will happen now?

After this update, banks will stop accepting ₹ 2,000 notes for exchange from October 8. In fact, the Central Bank has clearly indicated in its circular that even after the newly fixed deadline of 7th October, if Rs 2000 notes are not exchanged, i.e. even after this, if anyone is left with Rs 2000 notes,

then You will neither be able to deposit it in the bank nor will you be able to exchange it. These notes can be exchanged from 19 regional offices of RBI. Notes of more than Rs 20,000 cannot be exchanged at a time. These notes can also be sent by Indian Post to the ‘Issue Offices’ of RBI.

So many notes came, so many left

RBI said it has recovered ₹ 2000 notes worth ₹ 3.42 lakh crore out of the total ₹ 3.56 lakh crore in circulation as of May 19. Due to this, till September 29, only ₹ 0.14 lakh crore worth ₹ 2000 notes are left in circulation which have not yet been returned to the banks.
