Citizens across the country are getting the last chance to update Aadhar card for free. However, this can be done only by visiting the UIDAI website and after the last date, a fee will have to be paid for it.
Aadhaar card has become an important government document for all Indian citizens and it is used for everything from providing benefits of government schemes to identification. It is important to keep name, address, photo, biometric data and other information updated in this document. The good thing is that the government is providing an opportunity to update the Aadhaar card for free. Now this deadline has been extended.
Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is giving users the opportunity to update Aadhaar card information for free by visiting its website. However, this option was being given for a limited time and the last date for updating Aadhaar for free has been extended to March 14. After this, fees will have to be paid to update Aadhaar information.

Aadhaar card holders are being given the option to update their information on this document for free on the myAadhaar portal (https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/). Keep in mind, you are getting the opportunity to update Aadhaar details online only for free, but if you go to the nearest Aadhaar center and get your Aadhaar card updated, you may have to pay a fee of Rs 50 or more.

The information provided by UIDAI to users to update for free by visiting its website includes Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (PoA). To do this, relevant documents and proof have to be uploaded. However, information like name, link and date of birth cannot be updated on the online portal.
This is the way to update Aadhaar for free
- You have to go to UIDAI website uidai.gov.in.
- After clicking on ‘My Aadhaar’ here, you will have to select ‘Update Your Aadhaar’ from the drop-down menu.
- After entering the Aadhaar number and captcha verification code, you have to click on ‘Send OTP’.
- Now you will be able to login with the help of OTT coming on the registered mobile number.
- On the next page, while selecting the demographic details, you will have to make necessary changes and upload copies of the relevant documents before clicking on ‘Submit Update Request’.
Finally, you will get the Update Request Number (URN) through SMS, through which the status of the request can be tracked. After the stipulated time you will be able to download the updated Aadhar card.
