Arvind Kejriwal Bail: ED had arrested Chief Minister Kejriwal on March 21 in a money laundering case related to Delhi’s excise policy. After which Kejriwal has filed a petition against it in the Supreme Court.

Arvind Kejriwal Bail: Arvind Kejriwal has been granted interim bail by the Supreme Court in the laundering case of Delhi Excise Policy case. According to the information, the Supreme Court has granted interim bail to Kejriwal till June 1. He has been asked by the court to surrender under any circumstances on June 2.

Actually in this case, the Division Bench of the Supreme Court granted bail to Kejriwal after the decision of Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta. Along with this, ED can file a new charge sheet today in relation to this case.

Know what happened in the last hearing?

In fact, in the last hearing the Supreme Court had expressed its opinion. He had said that there is a need to consider the interim bail of Arvind Kejriwal. He termed it an issue of ‘abnormal circumstances’ and also said that being the elected Chief Minister of the state, he is not a common criminal.

Along with this, the court had said against ED that ‘they also have full right to campaign during elections. After this, ED lawyers raised the question whether Kejriwal is setting an example that now other MPs and MLAs will also seek bail? And can there be such a big argument regarding election campaign? Also, ED lawyers had also said that if the Chief Minister of Delhi does not campaign, then no rights or sky will fall due to this.

Along with this, the court also clarified the conditions of its bail. In fact, the court said that ‘Kejriwal will not be able to talk on the liquor policy case.’ With this, Kejriwal will be able to campaign, there will be no restriction on this, but he will have to surrender under any circumstances on June 2.

The Supreme Court gave this argument?

In fact, the Supreme Court took the decision to grant bail in the context of the long period of his arrest. While giving this decision, Justice Sanjeev Khanna said that this case was started in 2022, while the arrest took place in 2024. He asked where was Kejriwal in the intervening 1.5 years? The arrest could have happened earlier or later also. He said that this difference of 21 days should not make any difference.
