Bank unions have been demanding for a long time that all Saturdays should be a holiday for bank employees. Indian Banks Association was also told about this demand and they have given their consent to it. Now this proposal is with the Finance Ministry. If the government gives its green signal on this, then the banks will open only 5 days a week. If media reports are to be believed then the Central Finance Department can OK it. Bank employees can get good news before the general elections of 2024.

It is expected that the Finance Department of the Center can give green signal to the demand of bank unions. It is expected that the Finance Department will not reject this proposal. Bank employees will get relief if this happens. However, it may have a negative impact on bank customers. Because the days of going to their bank to get work done will be reduced.

Awaiting the approval of the Ministry of Finance

If approved, it would mean that bank branches would function only five days a week i.e. from Monday to Friday. However, the daily working hours in the branch can be increased by 45 minutes. However, according to several private and public sector bank officials, the agenda for declaring Saturday as a holiday was approved in the last IBA meeting. Now this matter is with the Finance Ministry.
