Bank Holiday Alert: In the festive month of October, banks will remain closed for many days in many states of t he country. According to the Reserve Bank of India, banks will remain closed for about 4 days this week in many states. In such a situation, if you have to do any important work related to the bank, then it is wise to get it done in advance. Otherwise you will have to wait. Talking about the whole month, banks will remain closed for about 15 days this month in some states, including different dates. However, despite the branches being closed, online and digital banking services will remain available, ensuring that customers can manage their finances without any interruption.

- October 10: Durga Puja/Dussehra (Maha Saptami) (Banks will remain closed in Agartala, Guwahati, Kohima, Kolkata)
- October 11: Dussehra (Mahastami/Mahannavami)/Ayudha Puja/Durga Puja (Dassain)/Durga Ashtami (Banks will remain closed in Agartala, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Gangtok, Guwahati, Imphal, Itanagar, Kohima, Kolkata, Patna, Shillong, Ranchi)
- October 12: Second Saturday/Dussehra/Dussehra (Mahannavami/Vijayadashami)/Durga Puja (Dassain) (Banks will remain closed in Agartala, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad – Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad – Telangana, Itanagar, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Panaji, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram)

- October 17, 2024 (Thursday): Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti/Kati Bihu – celebrated in states like Karnataka, Assam and Himachal Pradesh.
- October 26, 2024 (Saturday): Merger Day – celebrated in Jammu and Kashmir.
- October 31, 2024 (Thursday): Diwali (Deepawali) – a major festival celebrated across the country, especially in states like Gujarat and West Bengal, also marks the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
- Apart from these, banks will remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays (October 12 and 26) as well as every Sunday of the month as per the statute.

State wise bank holidays
- According to a Livemint report, there will be holidays in different states in the month of October. For example, Assam will celebrate Kati Bihu on October 17, while Jammu and Kashmir will celebrate Merger Day on October 26. Similarly, many states will celebrate Durga Puja and Dussehra on different dates in the second week of October.
- October 10 (Thursday): Maha Saptami (celebrated in West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Nagaland and others).
- October 11 (Friday): Maha Ashtami/Ayudha Puja (celebrated in Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal).
- October 12 (Saturday): Vijayadashami/Dussehra (in many states).
- October 31 (Thursday): Narak Chaturdashi/Kali Puja (West Bengal, Assam, Karnataka, Gujarat).
