Bank Holiday: Banks will now open for only two more days in August. So get your important work done soon. Banks will remain closed on 31 August in many states on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.

Bank Holiday : Banks will remain closed on 27th August and 28th August on account of scheduled holidays on Saturdays and Sundays across India (2nd and 4th), Banking facility will not be available in branches under Regional Offices of Guwahati on 29th August.

On August 31, bank branches under regional offices in Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Nagpur and Panaji will remain closed on account of Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

For customers whose bank branch falls under the jurisdiction of any of these regional offices, there are only two working days to avail the banking facilities. Hence, for any Bank related work, customers are advised to plan accordingly to avoid any last minute inconvenience.

Banking holidays vary from region to region. A list of holidays is prepared by the Reserve Bank of India at the beginning of each year. Holidays are notified under three categories – Negotiable Instruments Act, holidays, real time gross settlement holidays and closure of accounts of banks.

In August 2022, there were 18 bank holidays which included various festivals and weekly holidays. Banks are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays with all Sundays of the month as compulsory holidays.
