There is a demand that the working days for the banks should be only 5 days a week. Along with this, the employees get 2 days weekly leave. However, there is also a proposal to extend the working day time period.
Bank Holidays: The month of August has started. There will be many occasions in this month including Independence Day when banks will not function. According to different states, banks will remain closed for a total of 14 days in the month of August. Banks will remain closed on all of these Sundays as well as on the second and fourth Saturdays. - August 16 (Parsi New Year – Shahanshahi): Bank closure in Belapur, Mumbai and Nagpur
- August 18 (Shrimant Shankardev’s date): Bank holiday in Guwahati
- August 28 (1st Onam): Bank holiday in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram
- August 29 (Thiruvonam): Bank holiday in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram
- August 30 (Raksha Bandhan): Bank holiday in Jaipur and Shimla.
- August 31 (Raksha Bandhan/Sree Narayana Guru Jayanti/Pang-Lhabsol): Bank holiday in Dehradun, Gangtok, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow and Thiruvananthapuram.
