Bank Jobs: According to the official data, State Bank of India (SBI) has the maximum number of vacancies among the banks. In these 12 PSBs, three category officers, clerks and sub-staff posts are vacant.
Bank Jobs: There is a possibility of good news coming soon for the youth who are looking for a job in the bank (Sarkari Naukri). Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has informed on Monday that as on December 1, 41,177 or 5 percent of the total sanctioned posts in public sector banks are vacant.
There are more than 8,05,986 sanctioned posts in Public Sector Banks (PSBs). According to official data, among banks, State Bank of India (SBI) had the maximum number of vacancies at 8,544.
Asked in Lok Sabha whether the government is aware that there is acute shortage of employees in public sector banks, due to which they are not able to perform their duties properly.
On this, the minister, citing the input received from PSB, said that 95 percent of the employees are on the job against the sanctioned strength on December 1 this year. He further said that the small proportion of vacancies are largely responsible for retirement and other common reasons.
Sitharaman said in a written reply, “As on 1.12.2021, there are 8,05,986 sanctioned posts and 41,177 vacancies in public sector banks.” In these 12 PSBs, three category officers, clerks and sub-staff posts are vacant.
Number of vacancies in these PSBs for Bank Jobs
He said that while there were 8,544 vacancies in SBI, the number was 6,743 for Punjab National Bank (PNB). Central Bank of India (CBI) had 6,295 vacancies, followed by Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) with 5,112 and Bank of India (BOI) with 4,848 posts. SBI had 3,423 vacancies for officers and 5,121 at clerk level.
Sitharaman also said that except for one post in Punjab and Sindh Bank in 2016, no post/vacancy has been abolished in PSBs during the last six years. Banks recruit employees to fill vacancies as per their requirement.
Other PSBs as per the data are Bank of Baroda, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Indian Bank, Punjab and Sind Bank, UCO Bank and Union Bank of India.
