Taking a step in this direction, Indian Railways has successfully completed the trial run of the new Vande Bharat Express. The new rake manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) was inspected by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav ahead of its first trial run in Chennai.
The trial run of the new Vande Bharat Express train was done on the route between ICE and Padi Railway flyover. Significantly, this is the 33rd rake of Vande Bharat Express manufactured by ICF. Many changes have also been made in the features of the train. Let us tell you about the changes made in the new Vande Bharat Express.
- The seat will be more comfortable and padded than before.
- The reclining angle of the seat has also been increased.
- The depth of the wash basin will be more.
- Charging point will be better than before.
- The color of the seats in the executive class will be from red to golden blue.
- Light in toilets was increased from 1.5 to 2.5 watt.
- Curtains stronger and less transparent than before.
- The flow of water in the tap will also be better.
- Toilet handles will be flexible.
- The air tightness has been enhanced for better ac.

Presently, Vande Bharat Express is running on 25 routes in India. It connects several capital cities, states and union territories in different railway zones. Some of the major cities connected by Vande Bharat Express include Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Lucknow, Gandhinagar, Tirupati, Visakhapatnam, Mysuru, Howrah, New Jalpaiguri, Shirdi, Coimbatore, Guwahati, Dehradun, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Thiruvananthapuram.
On 15 February 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the Vande Bharat Express by showing the green flag. The first Vande Bharat Express runs between New Delhi and Varanasi. It was produced at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai under “Make in India”.
Meanwhile, the Integral Coach Factory is also preparing to launch the Vande Bharat Express with sleeper coaches. These new coaches will aim to bring a change in overnight travel. Also, the expectations are that the trains will eventually replace the Rajdhani Express in many railway zones. The production of these rakes will be handled by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) and TMH of Russia.
