There is good news for the pensioners of Maharashtra. The Eknath Shinde Government of the state has decided to double the amount of pension received by all the freedom fighters. Under this, now these pensioners will get Rs 20000 every month.
Before the new year, the Maharashtra government has given a big gift to the freedom fighters. The Maharashtra government has doubled the pension of freedom fighters who took part in the Indian independence movement, the Marathwada Liberation War and the Goa Liberation War. This means that freedom fighters in the state will now get Rs 20,000 instead of Rs 10. The decision to double the pension was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
They will get benefit
After this cabinet decision, around 6,229 freedom fighters across Maharashtra will be benefitted and the state exchequer will incur an additional annual burden of Rs 74.75 crore. Explain that this pension scheme was started in 1965, it participated in India’s freedom struggle (1947), Marathwada Liberation War (1948) and Goa Liberation Movement (1961), who will now get this benefit. Since 2014, pensioners are being given Rs 10,000 pension.
