Big decision of the government! Passport cannot be made without this certificate, know details

The central government has taken a big decision regarding the passport. Now for people born on or after 1 October 2023, the birth certificate will be the only proof of their date of birth. People before this can provide proof of date of birth under the old system.

The central government has amended the rules for those applying for passports. According to the new amendments, now for applicants born on or after 1 October 2023, the birth certificate issued by the government and appropriate authorities will be the only proof of date of birth. In the absence of this, the date of birth will not be considered correct.

An official note was issued by the central government this week, giving effect to the amendments to the passport rules of 1980. Regarding this note, it was told by the officials that the new rules will come into force after the amendments are published in the official gazette.

According to these new rules, only birth certificates will be valid for proof of date of birth of people born on or after 1 October 2023. This birth certificate should be issued by a Registrar of Births and Deaths, Municipal Corporation or any appropriate authority empowered under the Births and Deaths Registration Act, 1969. Apart from this, applicants before this date can also submit alternative documents like driving license or school leaving certificate as proof of date of birth as per the old system.
