The central government has given permission to open all kinds of shops from Saturday, giving a big relief to the lakhs of shopkeepers and common people amid the ongoing lockdown from last one month. This includes essential and non-essential goods shops. Those working in these shops must follow the guidelines issued for the lockdown. But shopping malls and market complexes have not been allowed to open.


This order of the Ministry of Home Affairs has come at a time when Ramadan, the holy month of the religion of Islam, is starting from Saturday. After midnight on Friday, the Union Home Ministry amended its order issued on April 15, saying that during the lockdown, all the states and union territories of the country registered under the Shops and Establishment Act and the residential areas present in the municipal and municipal areas It would be permissible to open single shops as well as shops in the premises and adjacent neighborhood (street neighborhood).

It has also been clarified in the order that only 50 percent of the employees will work in these shops. They have to wear masks and maintain lockdown conditions while maintaining physical distance. The shops of street mohallas, which have been closed since March 24, will open with this decision of the government and which will bring great relief to millions of people. The Ministry has also made it clear that there is no exemption in hotspots and containment zones.

Shops will not open in malls

Shops in multi and single brand malls will not get this discount. That is, shops will not open in malls. It would be permissible to open neighborhood shops in the municipal area. But the shops in the market premises in the Corporation area will remain closed till May 3.

Hotspot zone shops will not open

Significantly, the lockdown will run till May 3. Shops in the Corona Hotspot and Containment Zone are yet to be opened. Only shops with essential goods were allowed to open during lockdown. This includes ration, vegetable and fruit shops. Now, with the permission to open all the necessary and unnecessary shops, it is expected that the business will be back on track once again. Businesses have lost crores of rupees due to the shutdown due to continued lockdown for one month.

Home Ministry has imposed some conditions


According to an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Central Government has allowed the opening of shops and stand-alone shops adjacent to residential colonies which fall within the limits of municipal corporations and municipalities. But with this permission, the Home Ministry has also imposed certain conditions. According to the conditions ..

1-All shops should be registered under the Establishment Act of the respective State / Union Territories.

2- Only half the staff will be able to work in the shops.

3- It will be mandatory for staff to apply mask. 


4. The shopkeeper and the customer must also take measures like physical distance.

Let me tell you that earlier on April 21, the government, taking necessary steps, gave permission to open school books shops. In addition, shops selling electric fans were also removed from the list of restrictions. The Ministry of Home Affairs had said that bread factories and flour mills located in urban areas can also start work during lockdown. This step was taken by the government to ensure that the corona virus lockdown does not affect the education of children.
